Practice Areas

Professor Ho is Professor of Law at Saint Louis University School of Law. He was previously Associate Professor of Law (with tenure) at the University of Massachusetts School of Law (UMass Law). Before his time at UMass Law, he was simultaneously a Visiting Associate Professor at Washburn University School of Law and the inaugural teaching fellow at the Institute for Law Teaching and Learning, then co-sponsored by the law schools at Gonzaga University, Washburn University, and the University of Arkansas, Little Rock. Professor Ho is currently a member of the State Bar of California.

Research Interests

Professor Ho’s research focuses on topics relating to law and inequality, mostly with respect to sexuality/gender, race, and culture. In addition, he has also written extensively on legal education, methodology, and theory. Professor Ho’s articles have appeared in the Yale Journal of Law & Feminism; the Harvard Journal on Legislation; The Georgetown Law Journal Online; the Journal of Legal Education; the Colorado Law Review, the Utah Law Review; the Kentucky Law Journal; the American University Journal on Gender, Social Policy, and the Law; the U.C. Davis Business Law Journal; and others. As a former contributor to the Humans Rights at Home Blog, Professor Ho’s shorter pieces on sexuality and race frequently garnered mentioning by SCOTUS Blog.

Honors and Awards

Both Professor Ho’s research and teaching have received notable recognition. His scholarship in law and sexuality has earned him a Dukeminier Award, specifically The Ezekiel Webber Prize from The Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law—the top prize in LGBTQIA+ legal research and scholarship. At SLU, his recent scholarship also received the Scholarly Works Award given by the university faculty. In addition, Professor Ho’s teaching has also garnered recognition. During his time at UMass Law, the University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees awarded his teaching with the Manning Prize for Excellence in Teaching, the highest teaching award across all six University of Massachusetts campuses statewide. At UMass Law specifically, Professor Ho was also named Professor of the Year for a record six consecutive times, an award given by the law student body. And in 2014, Professor Ho was selected for inclusion in Lawyers of Color’s 50 Law Professors Under 50.
