  Professor Boyer Selected as ANA NextGen Ambassador

  02/12/2026- Tori Boyer, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, is a 2025 ANA NextGen Ambassador recognized nationally for her leadership supporting early‑career nurses. She advances ethical practice, innovation, and professional sustainability through her work with the American Nurses Association and as an Assistant Professor at Saint Louis University.

  SLU’s First Joint White Coat Ceremony Brings Nursing Pathways Together

  09/29/2025- Saint Louis University’s Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing held its White Coat Ceremony on Friday, Sept. 26, at St. Francis Xavier College Church. For the first time, students from all three nursing pathways —the traditional four-year BSN, the 12-month accelerated BSN, and the accelerated MSN program —were honored together in a unified celebration.

  St. Louis Magazine Salutes SLU’s Top Nursing Educators

  06/06/2025- Four nursing educators in Saint Louis University’s Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing have been honored with a St. Louis Magazine’s 2025 Excellence in Nursing Award. This recognition underscores the dedication and leadership of SLU’s nurse educators in advancing the profession and shaping the future of health care.

  Missouri State Board of Nursing Grant, Full Scholarships Help SLU Build the Nurse Educator Pipeline

  02/21/2025- Saint Louis University is one of several Missouri colleges and universities awarded grant funding to continue enhancing nursing education programs statewide.

  St. Louis Magazine Names 5 SLU Nurses 2025 Excellence in Nursing Finalists

  02/20/2025- The Excellence in Nursing Awards were established to recognize the critical role that nurses play in the health care system, highlighting those who go above and beyond in their practice.

  With $5 Million HRSA Geriatrics Grant, SLU Prepares Workforce to Care for Older Adults

  01/07/2025- A new grant will extend 30 years of geriatrics-related funding to Saint Louis University clinicians and researchers.

  Three Join Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing Faculty

  08/21/2023- Saint Louis University’s Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing will have three new faculty members join the University this semester. The new faculty members include Amy Berkley, Ph.D., Amanda Flynn, DNP, and Katelyn Wilson, DNP.

  Fond Memories

  09/05/2019- The School of Nursing is celebrating 90 years of excellence in education. Graduates of the program have excelled in a variety of careers. Today, alumni look back at their memories from the program.

  Excellence in Practice

  11/20/2018- Sharon Page, R.N., N.P. (’06), D.N.P. (’15) used her advanced degrees to grow her N.P.-led pediatric practice in northwest Tennessee. When she opened Martin Children’s Clinic in 2010, she had three employees.

  Excellence and Autonomy

  11/12/2018- It has been present since the early days of students caring for the indigent at St. Mary’s Infirmary, to the present day of students providing free physicals to children in public schools. This core value of service is reinforced in academic courses, outreach initiatives and programs – perhaps none more so than the School of Nursing’s advanced nursing practice programs, primarily its nurse practitioner (N.P.) tracks.

  Curriculum Then and Now

  11/07/2018- At its inception, the School of Nursing offered a two-fold curriculum: a three-year program that led to a Certificate of Graduate in Nursing and a five-year curriculum in Arts and Nursing leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

  Carrying Commitment Forward

  11/06/2018- Officially, Saint Louis University established the School of Nursing in 1928, but its roots trace back 50 years earlier. It was 1872 and St. Louis was in the grasp of a smallpox outbreak. A small group of nuns from the Sisters of St. Mary (now the Franciscan Sisters of Mary), arrived to provide care and comfort in densely populated immigrant neighborhoods.

  Never Give Up Hope

  02/01/2018- Clinicians sometimes are reluctant to discuss a child’s terminal illness with parents because they’re concerned about the emotional impact of the information. They fear disclosure of prognostic information, especially when there is little chance for cure, is in opposition to hope.
