Internships
As a student in Saint Louis University's Department of Communication, you can find an internship that explores your passions and applies the theory and skills you’ve learned in your communication classes.
St. Louis is home to a number of advertising and public relations agencies and to a wide range of corporate, media and nonprofit organizations, many located near SLU’s campus. The Career Services office at SLU offers a database of internship and job opportunities through Handshake. In addition, the Department of Communication maintains a site with internship opportunities for communication students.
We encourage students to get internship experience early in their college careers. In their junior or senior year, students can complete an internship for college credit (CMM 4910). To register for CMM 4910, a student must have junior standing, be a declared communication major, hold a 2.85 or higher GPA in communication courses and a 2.65 or higher overall GPA, and have completed 18 hours in communication courses, including all communication core coursework. All for-credit internships must be approved through Keli Jackson prior to starting the internship.
Contact Keli Jackson, our internship coordinator, if you’d like advice on strengthening your resume, finding the perfect internship or making the most of your internship experience.
